I’ve chosen to include some recipes for healthier homemade treats. Cakes and desserts often taste so much better when cooked yourself, and these oatmeal biscuits are no exception. With a simple ingredients list and small cooking time, these biscuits are great for beginners looking to sharpen their baking skills.

Ingredients:
75g wholemeal flour
1 teaspoon of baking powder
80g porridge oats
50g caster sugar
75g butter
1 tablespoons of golden syrup
2 tablespoons of milk
Method:
Pre-heat your oven to 180c. Place a sheet of tin foil over a baking tray. Stir the flour in a large bowl, before adding the oats, sugar and baking powder, continue to mix.
Place the butter, syrup and milk into a small saucepan, and cook over a low heat, stirring as it cooks. Add the cooked mixture to the dry ingredients in the bowl, and mix until well covered.
Using a large wooden spoon, place the mixture into round biscuits on the covered baking tray, making sure to leave space between each. Bake in the oven for 15 minutes, until browned. Once cooked, leave for 5 minutes to cool before serving.
